The StreetstyleCon, located in Dortmund, opened their doors once again for about 30.000 people and we are proud of being a part of the event this year. We had our own booth with the hottest brands of the streetwear-culture like adidas Originals, Nike, Carhartt WIP, Stüssy, PINQPONQ, and so on. Next to us there was a large area with private sneaker sellers where you could satisfy your needs or share your passion. But there were also a lot of more highlights. You could watch some fashion and dance shows or a live performance of the ‚Harlem Globetrotters‘, hang out in the relaxing zone or play some video games in the gaming area. It was a very great weekend and we looking forward to the event next year.

For the Release of Illa J’s new album „Home“, inflammable teamed up with the artist and his label Jakarta Records as well as mutual Detroit original Carhartt WIP to create a limited run of t-shirts. The Carhartt Work in Progress T-Shirt made of 100% cotton jersey comes in both grey and white and features the original „Home“ Artwork by Robert Winter screen printed on the high quality garments. To complete the package, each one of the 100 T-Shirts comes in a special cotton bag, including stickers, a poster and polaroids Robert Winter took during his last visit in Detroit.
A few days ago the latest Jakarta Records signing, Illa J, younger brother to Hip-Hop Legend J Dilla, dropped the first visuals for his new album „Home“. For the title track’s video, the Jakarta team accompanied by artist Robert Winter and his lichthof crew flew out to Detroit to visit Illa’s old neighborhood and home. No better spot to capture this familiar home vibe, as John Yancey states himself:
„Bugged out that this is my first ever single being released without any rapping in the entire song..Been wanting to do this for so long. As always, Calvin kills it on the production. And to put the icing on the cake, the house I’m sitting in front of on the video is actually the house my parents brought me home to as a baby. It’s home in the most literal sense as I’m surrounded by family, my nieces and cousins. Also in a way showing how I’m the man of my family now since my dad and my brother are gone physically, I represent them both.“
Illa J takes us on a trip to his hometown Detroit with his third solo album HOME following his self titled LP, Illa J sometimes known as “John Regal” (born October 13,1986 in Detroit, Michigan) is a singer, songwriter, rapper, producer, multi instrumentalist. He takes us on a trip to his hometown Detroit with his third solo album HOME. His last LP successfully took Illa J out of his brother and hiphop legend J Dilla‘s shadow to show he is in his own lane. Yet, Yancey still felt as though he was in a box labeled rapper. Teaming up with producer Calvin Valentine, who entirely produced the album, HOME is Illa J‘s first album to properly showcase the full extent of his vocal range to put him in the singer-songwriter conversation. The listener can feel the soulfulness of this LP through Illa J‘s singing and Valentines‘ smooth production.
On „Sam Cook“ which is an ode to Illa J‘s father who ghostwrote for Motown, Yancey dives into his falsetto that is reminiscent of D‘Angelo, Bilal and Al Green. While keeping his focus on singing. Illa J sprinkles the album with rap verses. On „7Mile“ his vocals smoothly float over the more raw/alternative cut laid by Valentine. The album title track „Home“ completes his album and solidifies Illa J‘s artistry as a well rounded singer who can rap.

Was viele (immer) noch nicht wissen: Mit dem Maifeld Derby hat unsere Region (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis) eines der best-selektiertesten Musikfestivals der Nation am Start. Das bestätigte letztes Jahr auch schon der Musikexpress. Obwohl das Derby längst kein Geheimtipp mehr ist, bleibt sein familiärer Charme und Indipendent Charakter Jahr für Jahr erhalten. Auch für das verflixte 7. Jahr wurde wieder ein überzeugender Mix aus Indie, Rock, Elektro, Singer, Songwriter zusammen gestellt. Aber wer braucht schon Genres. For part two of Carhartt’s latest editorial, featuring L.A.-based producer Knxwledge, the shadowy streets of his current hometown are swapped out for vibrant yellow and blue backdrops. This is the other side of Los Angeles: bright lights, bold colours.
It is something that Knxwledge is having to increasingly get used to. Since featuring as a producer on Kendrick Lamar’s groundbreaking To Pimp A Butterfly album, the spotlight on this prodigious producer has intensified. However, throughout it all, he has maintained his signature low-key style – while his beats are complexly layered with elastic soulful samples and smooth piano loops, the man himself remains decidedly understated.
LA’s most iconic geographic landmark is not perched in the Hollywood Hills, rather it winds from the Santa Susana Mountains to the mouth of Long Beach Harbor. The LA River has been both a source of life and great devastation throughout history. Paved over to prevent chaos, the barren, geometric waterway sweeping the city scarcely resembles the once mighty riverbed.
For Summer 2017, Tom Guinness and Bibi Cornejo-Borthwick explore the furtive and forlorn channels of the concrete masterpiece, and the constant tension between natural and constructed realities in Los Angeles. In the series of images, Stüssy offers respite from the paved dystopia where an oasis flourishes amid the mighty berms.

Los Angeles is, without question, different. It has its own pace, its own way of doing things – it is not a traditional city by any means, but it’s probably one of the world’s most important. About 90% of the culture we consume emanates from this West Coast metropolis. Your music, your television, your movies – it’s all made here. Sure, it may lack the grandeur of other cultural hubs from different eras – this ain’t no ancient Rome or 19th century Paris – but it’s hard to argue that this is pretty much where it’s at.
L.A. is also home to Glen Earl Boothe Jr, better known as Knxwledge, a Hip-Hop producer whose esoteric style has seen him carve out a wholly unique sound that blends elements of jazz, soul and contemporary rap in a way that is unflinchingly different. This is the second time Carhartt WIP has teamed up with him, after his Carhartt WIP Radio appearance earlier this year.
It’s perhaps not hard to see why L.A. is the perfect fit for Boothe, someone known to sidestep the limelight – it’s easy to feel at ease in a city where buildings are secluded by greenery, there’s always an excuse to wear sunglasses and celebrity-sightings are as common as avocado toast on a menu. L.A. is both a city where stars are born, and also where they go to be hidden in plain sight, where the remarkable go to be unremarkable. No other city would allow you to do that.

Tonight’s a special night for all adidas Fans out there. The infamous NMD gets another special treatment and appears in six different versions all at a time. Since its initial release in December 2015 the athletic silhouette has conquered the sneaker community. With its unique mix between new modern looks and reference to the iconic adidas archives, it paved the way for a new sneaker-cultural movement. Maintaining momentum ever since, the community just doesn’t seem to get enough of the runner. Tonight on May 20th at 00:01 we see another reinvention of the innovative design, as the NMD is coming in multiple versions including the Gum Pack, the Oreo Pack, a linen khaki version and the XR1 in the OG NMD colorway.
